What can you expect as a young person living in an Onward Path Care home?
Whether you are new to the care system, or have spent a long time living within it, Onward Path Care are committed to doing everything within our power to provide you with the most comfortable and safe environment, while delivering you as best as possible into adulthood.
While you may not admit it, we know that your final teenage years are difficult. It is made even harder when you are living in the care system, as you may have been placed out of the area in which you grew up, leaving behind friends and family members. We will do what we can and what we believe is right for you, all the while leaving you to maintain a level of independence in the home and in the world. We will support you to make new friends and connections in the local area, whether this is by way of local sports groups, music groups, religious groups, or any other hobbies or interests you may have.
Your dedicated support staff team will be made up of people we believe are best suited to your needs and wants and we will work with you and them in order to best facilitate your life with us. We will ensure that they have the same or similar hobbies and interests to you, and even try our best to ensure they understand your cultural, religious and family backgrounds as well as your lifestyle.
You will be given an opportunity to voice any concerns you may have to us as directors every three months, and if any changes need to be made in the home to assist you, then, as long as we see them as reasonable, we will do our best to facilitate.
How do we monitor the quality of our accommodation?
We have regular house checks carried out by our company directors. These are often announced however may be ‘on the spot’. In these checks, we will talk with you about any issues you may have with the house, any improvements as well as what you feel is going well in the home. This can range from your regular support staff, maintenance issues, anything you wish to add to the home in order to make it more personal, etc.
The homes will also need to be fully compliant with current legislations and regulations and we will ensure that this is done, in order to keep you safe within the home, while making sure the home does not feel like a place of work.
