Joe Shearer

Managing Director

Joe has worked within the semi-independent living sector since 2019 as a support worker and has seen the numerous areas in which changes need to be made. Coupled with his time working at a school with children with learning difficulties, special educational needs, autism and behavioural issues as well as working in secure units with the country’s most vulnerable and challenging young people, the experience has been immensely beneficial. Joe has worked with young people with cognitive delay, severe sexually offensive tendencies, as well as a range of other offending behaviours and needs.

Joe’s diligence and drive, paired with his innate desire to help those in need have brought him to become one half of the directorial team at Onward Path Care.

Joe’s biggest achievement has come by way of a young person he worked with for 18 months, during the COVID-19 pandemic. “When this young person came to us, he was written off as unchangeable due to his severe cognitive delay and extremely low mental age. I immediately pushed back at this attitude and by the end of his time working with me, he was able to cook, clean, was educated at a local school, had a much more mature attitude toward his family and others in society and was at a point where he could take care of himself around the house completely unassisted.”

“Whatever has happened in your past should not determine your future. I firmly believe this and will do whatever is within my power to help people turn their lives around, giving them the best opportunity for a brighter future.”

Paul Hancock

Managing Director

Paul has worked within the social care industry for several years, focussing heavily on addiction and rehabilitation for adults. In 2019, he turned his attention to young people in semi-independent living. Working within the East Anglia region, Paul has worked with the area’s most vulnerable and challenging young people. He has worked with young people with a wide variety of needs, ranging from severe cognitive delay, foetal alcohol syndrome, offending behaviours and much more.

Paul’s determination to make a success of every young person in the company’s care, as well as his determination to learn more and more about the best methods of helping others, have made him a perfect fit for the role of a director at Onward Path Care.
